Our Team

With nearly 1,000 years of collective experience in the drinks industry across our team and a culture of heavily promoting cross functional team working we bring the full benefit of each and every one of those years to everything that we do on a daily basis.

From new product development to warehouse management and everything else in between, our passion for why, how and what we do is self-evident to our customers and our suppliers alike.

Emphasis is placed on performance evaluation across the company and most importantly, success is rewarded. We strive to make ICB an enjoyable place to work and to promote the continued development of all of our staff.

Job description:

Marcus is responsible for the corporate side of ICB focusing on Finance, IT, HR, Regulatory, M&A, Legal Affairs and Marketing.

Before joining ICB, Marcus worked for Lloyds Development Capital (LDC) as an investment director working on a variety of management buy outs across the north of England. Marcus qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte before spending ten years with PwC where he was one of the founding members of the UK pre and post deal services consultancy practice. 

Now based in ICB’s Harrogate office, he lives with his wife, four children and dog nearby in North Yorkshire. He is a keen follower of sports, but particularly rugby and football.

Sally Bowen

Job description:

Sally is responsible for the finance function of ICB focusing on providing accurate and timely financial information and commercial insight to the senior management and company as a whole. 

Sally qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA) whilst working for Portakabin. She worked for 6 years in the French division of Portakabin and travelled frequently between the York and Lille sites. Prior to joining ICB, Sally completed 6 years as Finance Director with H2O Chemicals.

Sally lives in York with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys travelling, the gym and eating out with her family.

Mike Carthy

Job description:

Mike has the responsibility for the Sales, Production and Operation functions and as such, overseas from sourcing through to customer delivery.

Before joining the company, Mike worked for 9 years at Continental Wines and Food in Huddersfield where as Deputy Managing Director he was responsible for the drinks division. Prior to that he spent 15 years with Matthew Clark managing their technical and processing sections. Mike is a chemist by background and as such, is always at the forefront of NPD work.

Mike lives in Yorkshire with his family and splits his time between the production facility in Middlesbrough and the Harrogate office.

Maxine Belfield

Job description:

Maxine is responsible for the site quality management system and for ensuring that we comply with all aspects of legislation applicable to the drinks industry. She also handles all customer requirements and technical standards.

Maxine has a history in consumables, having previously worked in both the brewing and food industry in various roles.

Job description:

As Wholesale Controller, Will is responsible for the recruitment and management of the wholesale team and is also the Account Controller of the Booker Group.

Will has been with ICB for 8 years and has 16 years FMCG experience. Before joining ICB, Will spent 2 years as RTM manager at Independent Distillers, a New Zealand based company that set up in the UK. Prior to that, Will spent 3 years at national retailer and brewer, Carlsberg - Tetley.

Outside of work Will likes to spend time with his wife and two young children. He enjoys sport and still plays squash and tennis to a reasonable level. Will is also a keen rugby and football fan, despite his playing days being behind him.

Gail Carpenter

Job description:

Gail is ICB’s Logistics Co-ordination Manager responsible for most things “wheels-based" and a host of other things too, working and liaising between the office in Harrogate and the production site in Middlesbrough. Since joining the company as a customer services and order processing assistant, she has been involved in most areas of the business and to enhance her experience in her present role, recently passed her Fork Lift Truck Licence.

Before joining ICB, Gail got her thirst for the drinks business by working for Theakston’s Brewery in Masham for several years. 

She lives in rural North Yorkshire with her partner, two daughters and an indolent Jack Russell.

Martin Denby

Key Account Manager - North

Job description:

Martin is responsible for key accounts in the wholesale/cash and carry channel including AG Parfetts, Hyperama and Dee Bee amongst others. As well as his key accounts, Martin services national cash and carry groups and independent wholesalers in Yorkshire, East Midlands, Lincolnshire and East Anglia.

Previously Martin held a similar role at Invicta UK, one of the country's leading sales agencies and represented approximately 40 companies over a four year period in the wholesale channel. These companies included E&J Gallo, Marstons, Friesland Campina and Kettle Foods. Martin joined Invicta UK from Batleys Cash and Carry and held several buying managerial positions in the Sheffield depot during his 14 year career within the business.

He lives with his partner and daughter in South Yorkshire. He has interests in tropical and marine fish, golf and football and is a long term season ticket holder at his beloved Rotherham United.

Lawrence Dolan

Job description:

Regulates production workflow in accordance with fluctuating demand, liaising with the sales, production, warehousing and materials departments to maintain goods input, production workloads and output effectively and efficiently. 

With a broad and qualified supply chain background, including national logistics planning,
warehouse management, as well as software design & development. Arriving at the outset of ICB adopting IFS provided a timely opportunity to nurture the system used throughout the company today.

A lifelong fan of both drag racing, live music and foreign travel, Lawrence can be found either at the side of a racetrack for days on end, at a loud rock gig or just off somewhere new overseas for a look around, which will usually involve drag racing and loud bands at some point.

David Dring

Planning and Procurement Manager

Job description:

David is a recent addition to the business and heads the team handling all aspects of production planning and procurement. This involves bringing together the efficient and effective use of our state of the art ERP system, and the optimisation of materials and process leading up to production.

David came to ICB with a rich history of procurement in FMCG environments. A member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, time allowing, David teaches this subject at a local college evening class

David is based at our Middlesbrough production facility. He and his family live in Hartlepool and as a lifelong follower of Hartlepool United FC, David brings qualities of resilience and endurance to the team.

Ian Ferguson

Warehouse Manager

Job description:

Ian manages the team that operates warehouse goods in and out, production line feed and product registration to stock. He deals with custom documents, maintains stock and is the production sites resident eco-warrior.

He began life as an apprentice Engineer and then moved into Maintenance Planning. He worked in the oil industry in the Middle East before moving into Production Management and finally settled on Warehouse Management, finding time to be a Pub Landlord, and Newsagent, along the way.

Ian lives with his partner Laura in Hartlepool and supports Hartlepool United FC and Newcastle United FC.

His hobbies are folk music and snooker.

Simon Harbinson

Job description:

Simon is responsible as Materials Controller to primarily supply production with the necessary components required to fulfil demand against customer orders, and forecast demand. Simon also supports the Production Planner when away from the office, also uploading forecasts and monitoring sales orders to ensure that there is stock to cover demand. Simon will also complete day to day maintenance of the SKU codes in our new computer system, creating new parts as required. He also assists in the collation of Customs Reports and Monthly Management Reports.

Simon Completed a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Engineering shortly before joining the team in October.

Simon Lives in Redcar, and enjoys running and has just completed the Great North Run with an amiable time of 2 Hours and 5 minutes. He also completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge with other Members of the Team in July, in a record breaking 11 Hours and 35 Minutes.

Jonathan Heard

Job description:

Jonathan is currently responsible for the daily running of the process and quality assesment functions, giving technical support and advice as required.

Jonathan has been in the alcoholic drinks industry in excess of 16 years, working with many different aspects of the business, giving him extensive knowledge and experience.

Peter is ICB's resident Project Manager and ensures ICB's undertakings proceed smoothly and efficiently, whatever that entails. He joined ICB whilst it was still named 'Online bottlers'.

Peter has a wealth of experience, having been in the bottling trade for many years.

Peter lives in Leeds with his too small dogs, whom he enjoys walking and doting on.

Tony Ince

Job description:

As a National Account Manager Tony is responsible for managing the Top 5 UK Multiple Grocers; Tesco, Morrisons, Asda, Sainsbury's and Iceland.

Before joining ICB, Tony worked for a wine importer and distributor, representing wine producers from around the world. He was responsible for growing their brands in the UK retail market with the major multiples. His past sales experience covers various categories including non-food, frozen, dairy and soft drinks (although the categories involving alcohol are by far his favourite).

Tony lives in Baildon and has two daughters. Outside of work he is a Leeds United fan and enjoys playing the odd round of golf (badly).

Nick Jowett

Paula Lowther

Job description:

Paula looks after the customers by handling orders in every capacity. This involves taking orders, ensuring that those orders are properly met by the production team and handling any concerns or issues encountered. On the other side, Paula organises the haulage companies collection of products from ICB to take them safely to the client. 

Paula's career began as an office junior for a local car sales/retail business. On moving to Yorkshire, she began work in the purchase ledgers of Tankfreight, a haulage company transporting anything from milk to BP petrol around the country.

Paula lives in Yorkshire with her husband and has two grown up children and two grandchildren. She enjoys badminton and is heavily involved in running a Harrogate badminton club and spending time with her grandchildren.

Job description:

Val is responsible for formulating ideas and concepts for new drink products, upgrading and improving current products, and sourcing new ingredients for both ICB and customers products.

Apart from the odd interlude in customer care for Sainsbury’s, UK tax credits and quality assurance for an emergency lighting company, Val has worked in the drinks trade in a technical capacity for most of her working life, in both the alcoholic and soft drink sectors. She is based at the production site in Middlesbrough.

Val lives with her husband in Wakefield, and out of work Val is a keen rugby league fan and goes to as many live games as she can. She holds a season ticket for her favourite club every year. She also likes reading, creative cookery, music and foreign travel.

Job description:

Simon is respsonsible for ICB's convenience & discounters channel, liasing with customers such as Lidl, Bargain Booze, B&M, Nisa, Palmer & Harvey, Musgraves and the Co-op. 

Simon started in the drinks trade in 1988 by opening his first specialist wine shop which is still trading as a family business. Simon moved from a Sales Manager role with the Tavern Group to the off-trade, working for Holsten UK as a National Account Manager. He then moved to Gonzalez Byass UK and took on a similar role before joining 2 former colleagues and seting up a new company, United Brands, which later became Cubic Brands in 2007.

Simon enjoys all sports, both watching and playing and lives near Huddersfield with his wife and two boys.

Job description:

Amy is the Marketing Manager for Intercontinental Brands. She is responsible for developing brand plans and marketing campaigns across the entire brand portfolio and marketing division. She is in charge of any NPD projects and oversees the implementation and delivery of this.

Prior to joining the company Amy worked at a number of marketing agencies including Publicis where she worked on the Asda account, looking after a variety of FMCG brands including Kelloggs, Unilever, Diageo and Pernod Ricard. Within this role she was responsible for landing brand activity both online and offline for her set of allocated accounts.

A self-confessed foodie, Amy enjoys visiting new restaurants and trying out new recipes at home. She also loves travelling as much as possible and believes the world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.

Job description:

Tom is responsible for a number of customer accounts, namely Bestway/Batleys, Musgrave, MMRG and various independent wholesale accounts across London and the South. 

Before joining ICB Tom had a background in FMCG, working with a number of well known companies. He entered the field with Brakes Food Service and then moved on to Carlsberg, giving him a wide experience in the food and drink industry. 

Tom lives with his wife and two children in Brighton. His front door opens onto the beach allowing him to strike up a rapport with now resident seal, 'Trevor'. Tom enjoys golf, cricket and cars and has a love/hate relationship with football as a result of supporting Tottenham Hotspur.

Job description:

Ruth assists Mike & Marcus (M&M), three days per week, and is proud to include ICB as one of her key clients.

Ruth has over 20 years experience as a Personal Assistant working at senior level for large blue chip finance companies in Yorkshire and London. Ruth began her career as a Partner’s PA in the Corporate Recovery department of PwC in Leeds. Following a move to London, Ruth worked in the Corporate Finance Department at Arthur Andersen as Executive Assistant to the Senior Global Partner and his team. Subsequent roles included PA and UK Events Management at the AXA Framlington Group and subsequently AXA Investment Managers.  Ruth’s final role in London was PA to the Vice Chairman of Global Energy at Standard Chartered Bank.

Ruth now lives back in Harrogate with her husband and two sons and has a love of travel and experiencing different cultures. She also enjoys keeping fit, the arts, music, alongside a glass of wine and some good food.

Lynn Williams

Job description:

Lynn is primarily responsible for all ICB production case output and machine maintenance, but also takes charge of site Health & Safety.

Before joining ICB, Lynn was Production Manager for a frozen food company in Salford. Prior to that, she worked for 23 years in the paper industry for a Swedish company SCA (Svenka Cellulosa Aktiebolaget), based in Skelmersdale as first the Production Manager and then the Quality Manager. Lynn worked in Mannheim for a short time developing a blind softness test for tissue, which was implemented across two UK sites; you feel the benefits of this research daily in your bathroom.

Lynn lives in Darlington and has two children; her married daughter who lives in Dundee and a son in Bury. Lynn can often be seen driving from one end of the country to the other, visiting her relatives. In her spare time Lynn practices Reiki on her friends and relatives and has recently qualified in the first, second and Master Levels in Natural Healing.
